Visual timer with digits for the classroom

The Combi-timer is a visual timer with digits: the shrinking segment for those who want to see at a glance how much time is left, the digits for those who want to know exactly.

That makes one timer work for a mixed audience – a class where not everyone reads a clock equally well, or a room where people read the time from different distances. Turn the digits on or off and choose your own end signal.

  • Hours, minutes and seconds are set separately, so it fits both a short task and a long workshop.
  • A coloured ring that shrinks as time runs out, with the remaining time in numbers in the middle.
  • You can hide the numbers so only the ring remains.
  • An end sound of your choice: a bell, a school bell, a school buzzer or no sound.
  • Pause and carry on where you left off, or start again with reset.
  • Participants can follow the timer live on their own phone.

Frequently asked questions

What is a combi-timer?

A combi-timer combines an analog and a digital timer. A coloured ring around the clock face shrinks as time runs out, and the remaining time is shown in numbers in the middle. So a young child sees at a glance whether it’s nearly over, and an adult reads the time to the second.

How do you use it in the classroom?

Set twenty minutes on the Combi-timer for a writing task. Younger students watch the coloured ring shrink, older students read the numbers in the middle: one clock for the whole class. If counting-down numbers cause unrest, during a test for example, turn them off and only the ring remains. Choose a school bell as the end sound, and everyone knows when it’s done.

How do you use it in a meeting or training?

Give each speaker five minutes or keep a ninety-minute workshop on schedule. The ring shows at a glance how much of the time has passed, and the numbers tell you exactly how much is left. Participants sitting far from the screen or joining remotely follow the timer live on their own phone. You no longer have to point anyone to the clock.

How do you use it at home?

Use the Combi-timer for homework in blocks, as a screen-time timer or for a game. Children who can’t read numbers yet look at the ring; anyone who wants to know exactly reads the time in the middle. On a TV or tablet you can see from the sofa how long is left, and with a bell as the end sound you don’t have to keep an eye on the time yourself.

Is the Combi-timer free?

Yes. You open the timer straight in your browser, with no account and nothing to install. With a subscription you save it in a presentation, together with the other tools you use in your lesson or training, so everything is ready to go next time.

How long can I set the timer for?

You set hours, minutes and seconds separately, so also longer than an hour. The ring always runs over the whole time you set: at five minutes and at two hours it starts full, and it’s empty the moment time is up.

Can I hide the numbers?

Yes. In the settings you turn off the digital time; then only the coloured ring remains. Handy with young children, or during a test where counting-down numbers cause unrest. Turn them back on and the time is right back in the middle.

What sound do you hear when time is up?

You choose: a bell, a school bell or a school buzzer. If you don’t want any sound, for example during a test or in a quiet room, you choose no end sound. The sound is set per timer, so every slide can have its own signal.

Can participants see the timer on their phone?

Yes. Participants join with a code via livecloud.online/join and see the timer live on their own screen. Handy if not everyone can see the big screen well, or if part of the group is joining remotely.
