Free word cloud generator – live with your group
The WordCloud is a live word cloud generator for your whole group, and it changes who gets a say: not just the three people who always talk, but also those who never raise their hand. The words submitted most often grow the largest and sit in the middle, so you see at a glance what the group thinks.
Participants join with a code on their own phone, and pre-moderation lets you decide what appears on screen. Activate prior knowledge at the start of a lesson, open a meeting with ‘How are you feeling about this?’, or ask for one word that stuck after a training.
Make every lesson, training or presentation interactive.
Your group takes part live on their own phones, without an app and without an account.

Frequently asked questions
How do I make a word cloud?
Open the Live WordCloud, type your question at the top and let participants join with the code on the screen. They send in words from their phone; the words that come up most often get the biggest and sit in the middle. A word cloud generator that fills itself.
How do you use it in the classroom?
At the start of the lesson, ask what students already know about the topic. Within a minute you see which words come up most often, and quiet students take part too, because everyone types on their own phone. At the end of the lesson you ask again and see what has stuck.
How do you use it in a meeting or training?
Open with ‘How are you feeling about this?’ or close with ‘What will you take away?’. The word cloud shows in a single picture what’s on the group’s mind, and gives you an immediate opening for the conversation: why is that one word so big?
How do you use it at a party or event?
At a birthday, wedding or anniversary, have guests send in one word about the guest of honour. The word cloud grows live on the big screen. With a subscription from Silver you download it afterwards as an image: a lovely keepsake to print or share.
Is the word cloud free?
Yes. You make a word cloud straight in your browser, and participants don’t need an account or app. With a subscription you save it in a presentation, together with the other tools you use.
Do participants need an app?
No. Participants go to livecloud.online/join on their phone, tablet or laptop and enter the code. That’s all it takes.
Can I block inappropriate words?
Yes. Turn on moderate first; a word then only appears on the screen once you approve it. A word that’s already on the screen can be removed with one click.
How many words can each participant send in?
You decide: from one word per person to unlimited. The default is five, each up to 40 characters.
Can I save the word cloud?
With a subscription you save the whole presentation and open it again later. From Silver you can also download the word cloud as a PDF, JPG or PNG.
